When remodeling includes adding walls AND hardwood flooring, Which comes first?
I've gutted out part of the house and noticed that whoever built it, built the walls first and then laid out the linolium and carpet.(there wasn't any finished floor material under the old walls) Is it important to do one before the other? I'm using 25 gauge steel studs instead of wood and installing hardwood flooring. which should I do first, the floor or the walls?
Generally, the walls are built first. On occasion, I've built walls on top of existing finished flooring, but it was usually a small remodel, like adding a closet to a room for example.
